Optimizing your Facebook Business Page

Follow these steps:

Go to your business page, click on SETTINGS – top right of the screen, then on GENERAL. (left side of screen)

Address each item on this page — edit where necessary (for your preference or need)

Special notes about important settings:

  • PAGE VERIFICATION — Get page verified (follow instructions)
  • VISITOR POSTS — ensure proper publishing options are on
  • REVIEWS – turn ON
  • AUDIENCE OPTIMIZATION FOR POSTS – check on ALLOW
  • MESSAGES – Allow people to contact page privately (ON)
  • TAGGING ABILITY — good way to increase exposure (ON)
  • OTHERS TAGGING THIS PAGE — (ON)
  • COUNTRY RESTRICTIONS — edit accordingly
  • SIMILAR PAGE SUGGESTIONS — CHECKED
  • COMMENT RANKING — Most Recent

  • NOW CLICK ON MESSAGING

To the right of page — scroll down to Response Assistant

Response time — update or change to your preference

Stay responsive when you can’t get to your computer or phone – YES

To personalize — click CHANGE

Type your personal message SAVE

Send instant replies to anyone who messages your page OFF

SHOW A MESSENGER GREETING — ON

UNDER FACEBOOK COVER PHOTO –

CLICK ON PAGE (top right menu bar)

CALL TO ACTION BUTTON — great way to lead them to a landing page, your e-mail address

COVER PAGE PHOTO — USE this to impact lead generation on FB page.

Use this area to draw attention to promotions, courses, downloads etc.

Create a great image with Canva or Pikmoney

EDIT DESCRIPTION OF COVER PHOTO — click on the photo and add a description in the box to further describe services, or website link, hashtags etc.. CLICK on DONE editing.

(this will ALSO Show up on photos on FB PAGE)

LOGO — Should be company logo, not personal one

To view the page as a visitor – check to ensure it is exactly how you want it to be. Check for spelling errors, etc.

TABS on front of page —

ABOUT TAB —

This is KEY to optimiZing your page   – ensure all your information is visible.

Page NAME — the first word in page name is what google pays attention to — doesn’t have to be the same as business name   (just follow page naming tips on that page)

USER NAME — need 25 likes before you can get custom URL   www.facebook.com/username

SHORT DESCRIPTION — super important — snippet that you see when you go to Google search. Fill it with keywords that will be used to find your page (155 characters)

LONG DESCRIPTION — (use all of the keywords here — no specific character count) Thorough description of what you offer plus hashtags.

PRODUCTS — if you have something to sell

Fill in everything you can.

Manage Tabs —

Templates — choose one that is right for your company.

OR

Go to bottom of page and drag tabs in order you want them to see

For example

VIDEOS

POSTS

PHOTOS etc.

LEAD MAGNETS

(if you use mail chimp or LeadPages)

Go to your Leadpages landing page — publishing options — publish as a Facebook tab

MailChimp (or possibly other mail service providers) — go to account, over to integrations, down to Facebook, log in, complete list to use

Last thing — view page as a visitor. Make sure all looks as it should.
